Mom Tips for a Smooth Movie Outing with Kids:

1. Arrive Early
Get there at least 20–30 minutes before showtime. It gives you time to grab snacks, hit the bathroom, and pick your ideal seats—especially if it’s general admission!

2. Dress in Layers
Theaters are always colder than you expect. Bring light jackets, blankets, or hoodies so your kiddos don’t get chilly halfway through.

3. Bring Cups from Home
Sharing one big tub of popcorn? Bring small plastic or paper cups from home to divvy it up easily—and avoid mid-movie fights over who’s hogging it.

4. Pack Quiet Fidgets
If you have a wiggly little one, bring something quiet they can hold or fiddle with (like a squishy toy or a soft stuffed animal) to keep their hands busy without making noise.

5. Set Expectations Beforehand
Talk about movie manners: sitting still, using quiet voices, no running around. Kids do better when they know what’s expected.

6. Bathroom Before EVERYTHING
Yes, even if they say they don’t have to go. Nothing ruins a good movie moment like a mid-show potty emergency.

7. Bring Wet Wipes & Napkins
Popcorn fingers. Sticky drinks. Mysterious seat gunk. Just trust me on this one.

8. Don’t Feel Bad Leaving Early
Sometimes the movie is too loud, too scary, or your toddler just isn’t having it. It’s okay to call it a day—there’s always next week.

9. Let Them Be Part of the Fun
Have them help pick the movie or “pay” for the tickets. It makes the outing feel special and gives them a little independence.

Visit your local library
Don’t forget most libraries have a DVD section, and you can check out movies for free! It’s a great way to find family favorites or try something new.
Stream something at home.
With all the streaming services out there, chances are you already have one that works for your family.
Netflix, Prime, Disney+, Peacock… pick your favorite, pop some popcorn, and you’re good to go!
