The Ultimate Spring & Summer Adventure Kit: Mom-Tested, Family-Approved!

Spring and summer in East Texas are all about sunshine, water play, and making memories with the kids. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned from our adventures, it’s that a little planning makes all the difference.

Over the years, I’ve fine-tuned my go-to list of must-have items—things that keep the chaos to a minimum and the fun at an all-time high. Whether we’re heading to the lake, the splash pad, or a family picnic in the park, these are my ride-or-die adventure essentials.

The Bag That Holds It All

First things first: the Bogg Bag. If you don’t have one yet, let me introduce you to the MVP of mom life. It’s sturdy, waterproof, and fits everything (without toppling over).

Inside, I use a Bogg Bag Divider and a Bogg Bag Organizer to keep things from turning into a bottomless pit.

And because I love a little personality, I’ve added Bogg Bag Charms—fun little touches that make my bag as unique as I am.

Dry, Hydrated, & Sun-Protected

East Texas heat doesn’t play around, so I never leave home without these:

Microfiber Towels– Lightweight, super absorbent, and dry in no time.

Insulated Water Cup – Nothing beats an ice-cold drink on a hot day.

Water Flavoring – Sometimes, water needs a little pizzazz to keep the kids (and me) drinking.

Sunscreen – Non-negotiable! I lather it on before we leave and keep extra in my bag for reapplication.

Leave-in Conditioner  – A game-changer for keeping hair soft and detangled after swimming.

Sunglasses – I always opt for polarized lenses to protect my eyes from that bright Texas sun.

Water Play Must-Haves

If water is involved, these items are coming with us:

Puddle Jumper – A must for my little water explorers. Safety first!

Reusable Water Balloons – Less mess, more fun, and no tiny balloon pieces to clean up. These can be expensive, so I suggest buying a new pack every year and slowly adding to your collection.

Kid Kayak – Perfect for little adventurers who want to paddle around and explore.

Comfort & Convenience

Whether we’re at the lake, beach, or a shaded park, I make sure we’re set up for comfort:

Wagon – This is a lifesaver for hauling everything (and sometimes, tired kiddos). Opt for the wide tires, they are easier to pull over sand and grass.

Picnic Blanket – Big enough for the whole family and easy to shake off the sand.

Beach Chairs – if you don’t want to be sitting on a towel/blanket for hours?

Sun Canopy – A must-have for creating a shady retreat when there’s no natural cover.

Water Cooler – Perfect for keeping extra drinks cold and refilling our bottles throughout the day.

Soft Shell Cooler– This is perfect for keeping snacks and drinks cool without taking up too much space.

Ice pack – Because nothing is worse than a warm juice box or melted cheese sticks.

These items have made our spring and summer adventures smoother, easier, and way more fun.

No more frantic searches for sunscreen, warm drinks, or exhausted kiddos with nowhere comfy to sit.

Just a bag (or wagon!) full of essentials and a heart full of good memories in the making.
