PRO- TIPS
Always check websites or Facebook pages for the days and times fields are open before heading out to the farms, as they can change daily depending on supply.
Prices are updated yearly and published on their Facebook pages and websites.
Remember, Tyler is hot and you are out in the berry patch with no shade. Go as early in the morning as possible.
The following items will help you have a great experience:
– hats for you and the kids
– closed-toed shoes (I prefer to wear rubber boots since the grass in the fields can be wet, and I HATE soggy shoes!)
– Water bottles!
– a cooler, or large bowl, something to transport your berries home. Some farms send you home with the berries in a bag, but they tend to get smooshed or bruised if kept in the bag while transporting. A container will help minimize the damage.
– Most berry patches don’t allow wagons or strollers into the fields.
– Picking Basket– some farms provide buckets to hold picked berries in the field.
– Shoes to go home in. The boots will be hot bring something to make the ride home more comfortable.
